Vincent Audio designed its very first CD player, the great sounding CD-S1.
As technology advanced, Vincent added a 24-bit converter, enhanced the circuitry, and the result was the CD-S1.1. Now in 2013, the German-based audiophile company has updated its ’first’ CD player once again to create the CD-S1.2 The most obvious change from the CD-S1.1 is the addition of digital inputs on the back of the device.
The CD-S1.2 can be supplied with digital signals via an optical or coaxial input.
The signals are further processed by the excellent vacuum tube analog section.
More Precise Sound, with Even Better Dynamics Vincent also improved the CD circuitry.
Now a well-regarded Sanyo drive unit is in charge for clean extraction of information from your CDs. For data reading, the reliable Sanyo DA11 chip is used.
Downstream from this precision transport mechanism, the processing is done by the PCM1796 DAC from Burr-Brown for 24-bit/192 kHz playback possibility. An improved dynamic range and a more precise sound quality is the benefit.
The fully balanced analog signal is processed further. Two 6N16 tubes operate in the signal path and give the resulting audio the rich, warm sound of tubes. Outputs consist of both balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA connections.
Tube Magic for Audiophile Bliss Why vacuum tubes in a CD player?
Vincent’s CD-S1.2 is the answer to audiophiles who love the smooth analog sound of LPs but enjoy the convenience of CDs. The German-engineered vacuum tube and solid-state hybrid technology blends the warmth of classic tube sound with the benefits of cutting-edge circuitry. If you ever felt that CDs and digital music in general sounded too dry and clinical, you’ll want to experience the magic of tubes for a lifelike listening experience Analog and Digital Wizardry As we mentioned previously, the CD-S1.2 uses two 6N16 tubes for signal processing, which greatly contributes to the unmistakable smooth and liquid sound of this CD player.
Special analog audio circuitry incorporating a GIC low pass filter contributes to the pure and natural tonal quality that breathes new life into every CD. On the digital side, the Vincent relies on a 24-bit, 192 kHz chip from Burr-Brown for detailed resolution with either CD or HDCD digital source material.
The fully balanced design allows you to take complete advantage of the tonal quality using a pair of high-quality XLR-type connections.
Two pairs of unbalanced RCA outputs are also provided along with a coaxial digital out. Built-in Volume Control Unique to the Vincent is its built-in volume control.
This is a great convenience feature for getting the sound level just right from the comfort of your easy chair using the included wireless remote.
And speaking of the volume control, the Vincent also boasts a built-in audiophile grade headphone stage with volume control.
This high-quality dedicated circuit is light-years ahead of the standard headphone output found on most components, bringing full glorious fidelity to private listening.
Add your favorite pair of ’cans’ and launch yourself into aural bliss. Ultra-Quiet Power Supply Like other Vincent hi-fi components, the CD-S1.2 boasts an exceptionally quiet power supply. The oversize toroidal core transformer contributes to the silent background, allowing musical details to emerge with realistic nuances intact. Other features include a quality detachable IEC power cord and replaceable rear panel fuse.
The gorgeous brushed aluminum front panel includes a well laid out complement of controls plus indicator lights, fluorescent display, and headphone jack Rich, Warm Sound 5 TÄHTEÄ YHDELTÄ OMISTAJALTA I just love this CD player. It has a warm and rich sound that I never had before on my classic and jazz CDs. Instruments, especially violin and acoustic guitar – have a tonal richness that was not there with my Rotel CD player. It must have a good laser because it plays several CDs that my Rotel couldn’t play. Excellent product and inexpensive compared to the other CD players I was looking at which I’m not convinced would sound better anyway. Recommended.
